Immerse yourself in the pleasures of rural life!

A night away in the country is always a treat, but for those who like to try new things and experience a little adventure when they enjoy a trip away, there’s nothing better than getting an insight into what life it like on a working farm.

The UK has a long and distinguished tradition of farming and although we are no longer quite so reliant on growing our own fruit and vegetables for the table, there are still large portions of rural countryside dedicated to the cultivation of livestock and foodstuff in the same way that our ancestors would have done.

The sights and sounds of a real live farm are indescribable and for those who don’t mind getting their hands a little dirty, at some of the locations there are opportunities to get involved with the day to day duties of the farm such as feeding and milking. Other locations available include small holdings and other rural enterprises, so you can enjoy many different facets of country life depending on where you choose to stay.

Your hosts will be experts in the surrounding countryside and will be able to point you in the direction of the best places to have a picnic, spot some wildlife or just take a tranquil stroll.

An overnight break with a Farm Stay UK location makes a great gift idea for any couple who enjoy the simple pleasures of country living and enjoy the warm welcome that our rural communities can offer.

One night bed and breakfast on a working farm, small holding or rural enterprise that is a member of Farm Stay UK.

Thomas Roberts House B&B in Hatherleigh.Dartmoor.Devon. Superb Georgian house with interesting history. Beautifully decorated in keeping with it's age. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable room double aspect big windows. Lovely modern bathroom with all amenities. Owners could not do enough to make you welcome. Scrumptious complimentary Devon cream tea on arrival. Lovely breakfast cooked to order on the Aga. The best breakfast ever!
Easy walking distance to the village, several eating places to choose from in the evening, and several good places within 10 min drive. Dartmoor within 15 min drive.
Two single beds zipped together, one of the mattresses needed replacing- springs had collapsed in the middle, so an uncomfortable night for my husband!
The weather in June wasn't great - but nobody can change that!
Our voucher was a gift, but it would be cheaper to book direct.
