The staff were all really friendly and helpful. They greeted you as you came and went and dealt with a complaint we had about a broken gutter outside our window, cascading water noisily in the storm overnight, promptly and courteously.
The room was lovely and big. Exactly as pictured on their website.
We didn't hear anything from the other rooms.
The bed was clean and comfortable.

The people who worked there were very nice and polite (baring in mind I only ever met 3 members of staff).
I did like that we were in 'The Cottages' it made us feel special!!
The surrounding area is lovely.
Darlington is alright.
The bed wasn't very comfortable, I don't know if it was 2 mattress' shoved on a double divan, I don't know, but it was not comfy!!
The signal on the TV was horrific - I know going on a weekend away isn't all about the TV, but on a freezing cold Sunday evening in Darlington, what else is there to do?
The windows in our room creeped us out a bit, mainly the bathroom one. To be honest, I think the whole room needed modernising, as it was a bit 'ghost like'. (We stayed in 'The Cottages')

Beautiful building and grounds, situated in the beautiful town of Burley in the New Forest, staff were very friendly, the hotel in general was reasonably clean. This is one of those place you either love for its quirkiness or hate for being so outdated, i still cant figure out which one it is..
Rooms are very outdated, assumed to be in keeping with the property, the room i had was at the very top of the house right out of the way and there just seemed to be random pieces of furniture everywhere. breakfast was expensive for what was offered. There were marks/stains on the bed cover which was not pleasant, i think overall a lack of attention to detail, which is a real shame as this hotel has so much potential. Bed was very uncomfortable, pillows were very flat and the curtains did not meet in the middle so allowed for the sun to drift in very early.
