Enjoy a trip back in time on a Thames barge

A vintage Thames barge is a gloriously traditional way to travel and one which will give passengers an authentic experience of yesteryear.  A day out on one of these magnificent vessels is truly relaxing, and if you want to you can get involved in sailing the barge by hoisting the sails and steering.  The experience includes a light lunch and is a great way to spend a day for any couple who like to take to the water.

Thames Barge Sailing

We enjoyed the sail, the scenery, lunch/refreshments and the company especially the crew. Of course the weather helped with some wind and clear(ish) skies. We added a few days to the trip and did a little touring in Suffolk, we had never visited the county before - we will again!

The weather was perfect, we were invited to take an active part or just relax and enjoy the voyage. I had a turn at the helm, climbed the rigging and also helped a little with the tack. It was a great experience.

A great day out

We thoroughly enjoyed our day drifting down the estuary nearly to Felixstowe and Harwich. The crew were very friendly, lunch delicious and the weather very kind. We took plenty of layers of clothes with us and used the lot!! Sunny but very cold day, so we had great views and warmed up when down below. We went on to visit a pub at Pin Mill we had seen from the boat - good recommendation right on the shore.
